Skin Repair: Making Sure You are Doing Things that Work

Written by clare on October 11, 2009 – 8:35 pm -

There are a lot of different things that can be meant by skin repair. This is probably because there are so many ways that skin can get damaged. Every different kind of skin damage is different from the next. Often the effectiveness of skin repair depends on choosing the right treatment.

You can see some common types of skin damage below:

* Weathering is one form * • Wrinkling * Scarring is one form * Discoloration is a type of damage * Breakouts and inflammation are common

In some cases these types of damage can be treated with common products. Others need unique treatments that are unlike other common products. For example, the steps that you take to resolve breakouts can actually cause further weathering or future wrinkling if you are not careful. Conversely, wrinkle repair products can result in breakouts. Scarring is a unique issue that requires totally different treatments.

Keeping your skin hydrated is one of the most important factors in skin repair. You can plump wrinkles and smooth weathering with a good moisturizer. A good moisturizer can also resolve the dryness that comes with acne treatments. Of course you need to tailor-pick your moisturizer. Breakouts and discoloration mean oil-free moisturizer. Anti-aging routines need “amped up” moisturizers to be effective.

Lightening scars works best with a vitamin regimen. They can really improve anti-aging regimens as well, but may complicate breakout issues. Taking vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E can really help your skin. If you do not have sensitive skin then topical applications are a good thing to consider. Be careful when dosing or applying because some of these vitamins can make you sensitive to the sun.

When it comes to weathering, your skin repair role can get complicated. Exfoliation is a great way to decrease the signs of weathering and other scarring. You remove dead skin and stimulate new growth with this process. It takes time to get results with this skin repair, so you will need patience. Exfoliating more than twice a week can lead to chronic skin problems.

As you can see, skin repair is very diverse. You can use a lot of the treatments together. In order to resolve all your skin issues effectively, you will need to carefully adjust your skin repair routine.
